If you’re on a program to help enhance your wellness and physical fitness, one thing that you might want to take into account is the benefits reflexology has to offer you.

Reflexology is one of the hottest growing trends right now for those who want to take a very comprehensive approach to wellness and who want to cure what ails them using a natural approach.

Let’s take a closer look at what reflexology is and the benefits that it can bring you.

What Reflexology Is

First it’s important to come to realize what reflexology is. Reflexology is a form of medicine where you’re going to apply pressure to various regions of the feet or hands using a very specific technique that will then target different areas of the body and help serve different purposes.

The premise behind this form of therapy is that there are certain pressure points in the hands and feet that are directly associated with the other areas of the body so by applying pressure to these, you can bring about a greater overall sense of well-being.

Who Should Use Reflexology

Almost anyone can benefit from using reflexology. While it’s more traditionally used as an alternate medicine for those who are suffering from certain disease conditions, more and more people are starting to use It simply to relieve stress and improve how they feel and function on a daily basis.

Reflexology can easily be custom designed to meet whatever your needs are so by speaking with your therapist before you go for your session you can help them know precisely where to apply the pressure to give you the desired effects.

How Reflexology Can Help You

So what are the benefits that reflexology has to offer?

First, it’s going to help to create more relaxation in the body. As you apply pressure to these trigger points the brain will start to relax and you’ll experience an enhanced overall sense of calmness in the body.

Next, reflexology can also help to improve the flow of blood throughout the body, so it can help to improve nutrient delivery to the brain, kidneys, and all the internal organs. This will help ensure that you’re feeling well at all times, so will go a long way towards promoting better overall health.

It’s a very popular treatment form among those who are suffering so may be one that you will want to consider.

Finally, one other main benefit of reflexology that must be mentioned is that it will help to decrease rates of depression, so may help those who currently aren’t feeling their normal selves and want to avoid anti-depressants to get feeling well again.

So there you have the main benefits of reflexology to consider. It’s a great alternative health form of practice that you will want to consider.

If you’re someone who’s hard at work in the gym, training to build muscle and enhance your fat burning, you’re going to have to pay special attention to the recovery you’re achieving.

Every time you go into the gym and perform an intense weight training workout, you’re placing a high degree of stress on your body. Over time, this can build up and eventually you may find that your body just can’t recover any further.

Performance declines and this is when overtraining sets in.

Fortunately, there are some key supplements that you can be using that will help promote faster recovery so that you can get back into the gym sooner again.

Let’s look at the main ones that you need to know.

Glutamine

The very first supplement that you should consider as far as recovery is concerned is glutamine. Glutamine is a particular type of amino acid that plays a very key role in keeping your immune system strong so by taking it after your workouts as well as right before bed when you’re in prime recovery mode, you can enhance the entire process.

Glutamine is easy to mix into a post-workout shake or water so it’s very simple to use. While you naturally take in some glutamine from dietary sources, for those who are training hard in the gym it’s simply not going to be enough to keep up with the demands of what you’re placing on the body due to your workouts.

Creatine

The second supplement that you should consider for recovery purposes is creatine. Creatine is the high energy precursor to ATP, which is the molecule that fuels each and every muscle contraction.

When creatine runs out in the body, that’s when you’re going to see the intensity of your workout sessions take a significant decline and when you’ll no longer be able to keep up.

To help ensure that your creatine stores are fully saturated as you go into each workout session, add creatine to your post workout shake. This is a simple yet highly effective way to kick-start recovery and get your body geared up for the next workout you’ll be performing.

Whey Protein Powder

The third and final supplement that you should consider using is whey protein powder. Whey protein powder is a great way to get your protein requirements met without adding a ton of preparation time to your day.

Many people often fall short on their protein intake simply because they don’t have the time to be grilling up chicken breasts every few hours, so protein powder makes things easy.

If you aren’t getting in sufficient levels of protein each day, this will definitely have an influence on your ability to recover.

So there you have the most important points to note about how to maximize your recovery and ensure that you’re able to give it your all during each workout session. Arm yourself with these three supplements and recovery shouldn’t be an issue for you.

As you go about striving to reach your individual fitness goals, one thing that you will want to give some serious consideration to is using a very well-rounded approach.

For many people, ‘fitness’ simply means getting to the gym and performing their cardio training. They believe that the results that they seek lie in the form of a cardiovascular training machine.

Sadly, they are in for disappointment. If you really want to take your fitness to the next level and see the best possible results from your training, you should be taking as well-rounded of an approach to fitness as possible.

Most people simply are not doing this and that’s why they aren’t moving forward as they wish.

So what does a well-rounded approach entail? Let’s take a look so you can form a clear picture of what you should be doing for success.

Utilizing Many Forms Of Training

The very first thing that you should be doing in order to take a well-rounded approach to your fitness program is to make sure to include a wide variety of different training forms.

For example, it would be a good idea to perform weight lifting, yoga, as well as taking in massage therapy from time to time.

Weight lifting is going to build strength, yoga will help to increase flexibility and will be good for the mind-body connection, and massage is going to help to relieve stress and put you in a state of maximum wellness.

Combining all three produces a very well-rounded type of program that you can feel certain will bring you success.

Setting Multi-Faceted Goals

Second, make sure that you also set multi-faceted goals. If you’re strictly only setting goals related to one part of your workout – say losing weight, you’re missing out on what fitness has to offer. Set a goal to help increase your body awareness as well or develop a deeper spiritual connection through activities such as yoga or tai chi.

By having numerous goals in place you’ll help to naturally enhance your motivation as you won’t be quite as focused on one thing only.

Enjoying The Process

Finally, last but not least, be sure you enjoy the process. This is a big reason why including other forms of non-gym exercise such as yoga and massage is so beneficial. By getting out of the gym from time to time and moving away from the very intense sessions, you’ll come to find that you enjoy yourself more.

If all you’re doing is intense session after intense session, you may come to feel as though getting your workouts is a burden.

By having the days off where you lighten up on the intensity and relax more, you’ll help to prevent these feelings from occurring. Instead, you’ll enjoy all the sessions you do more as they’re varied and keep you interested.

So there you have the main important things to note about creating a well-balanced training program that will bring you results.

If you are sure to keep these tips in mind, then you can feel confident you’re moving in the right direction towards your fitness goals.

Banned all carbs from your diet? Can’t remember the last time you had bread in the house? Do you feel like you would give anything just to have a small bowl of pasta?

If so, you aren’t alone. Millions of people everywhere are shunning carbs from their diet as they truly think that doing so is the ticket to fat loss results.

Carbs = evil. That’s what most people have come to believe.

But, have you ever stopped to question this connection? Have you stopped to ask yourself why carbs have earned this ‘diet devil’ title?

Maybe you should.

Let’s give you something to think about.

What Causes Weight Gain?

First things first, you need to think about what actually causes weight gain. There’s nothing special about carbs that automatically make them get turned into fat – they’re a simple form of calories just like protein or dietary fat.

What causes you to gain weight is when you take in too many calories over the course of the day. Simply put, take in more than you burn and you’ll be gaining body fat.

What Happens When You Eat Carbs?

So, now we need to look at how this is connected to carbohydrates.

One thing that is true is that carbohydrates will cause your insulin levels to increase. This is due to the fact that carbs break down into glucose in the blood and your body wants to try and maintain a certain range of blood glucose at all times.

But, what you must think about is how much insulin will be released is directly related to how many carbs you consume and how fast they break down.

If you eat a small dose of carbs that break down slowly, hardly any insulin will be released at all.

If you eat a large dose of carbs that break down rapidly and cause blood sugar levels to spike, you can be certain that insulin is going to come flooding in.

It is this insulin that takes those calories and stores them as body fat.

So from this, what you need to consider is the fact that it’s not carbs in general that cause you to gain weight, it’s how many carbs you’re eating and the type.

In today’s world, our diets consist primarily of large doses of refined carbs, which are the types that cause blood sugars to rise.

If you instead switch your focus to carbs that break down slowly such as oats, brown rice, quinoa, sweet potatoes, vegetables, and moderate amounts of fruit, you wouldn’t have this problem.

Why Carbs Are Important

What you also must consider is the fact that carbohydrates are the preferred source of energy for the body. Cut them out and you can kiss your energy level good bye.

So rather than shun carbs, rethink the carbs you’re eating. Carbohydrates themselves aren’t bad, it’s how many most people consume and the type. Make a few adjustments to your intake and you’ll easily see weight loss success without having to give carbs the boot from your diet.

As the summer time gets into full swing, some of you may be experiencing some weight gain that you definitely feel you could live without.

Weight gain is definitely a frustrating issue for many people but with summer parties occurring each weekend filled with Barbeques, drinks, and campfire goodies, it can be hard to keep that weight off.

Add to the fact that you’re much more likely to take in the hot weather than hit the air-conditioned gym after work is finished and you aren’t quite as active as you used to be.

So how can you keep the weight off during the summer so that you don’t have to diet come fall? Let’s go over a few of the tips that you should consider.

Choose Wisely At Barbeques

The very first thing that you should be doing is making sure to choose wisely when dining barbeque style. Rather than opting for the classic burger or hot dog, grill up some fish, shrimp, or chicken instead.

These all work great on the barbeque and will supply you with high quality protein.

Additionally, forgo the baked potato which is loaded in carbs and try some grilled veggies brushed with some olive oil and spices. They will provide the fiber and nutrients your body needs without adding more calories to your day.

Opt For Lighter Desserts

When it comes to desserts, you have so many sweet fruit varieties in season right now, start choosing them more often.

There’s really no reason to consume heavy desserts during the summer months when there are so many lighter alternatives.

Get creative and come up with a sweet fruit salad. Try adding in additional healthy ingredients to liven it up such as slivered almonds, shredded coconut, or some light whipped topping.

Be Careful Of Your Beverage Selection

Another thing that will typically lead to weight gain for most people during the summer months is the alcoholic beverages that they’re choosing.

Alcohol definitely does add up quickly and if you’re having mixed drinks, it’s easy to consume 300-500 calories per glass.

Start choosing lighter alcohol options such as vodka mixed with tonic water or soda watee and then alternate between that and one glass of water.

This simple change alone could help prevent at least a few pounds of fat gain over the summer. If you’re a beer drinker, opt for light beer. While it may not taste quite the same, the difference it has on your waistline will be worth it.

Be Active Outdoors

When it comes to exercise, try and be active outdoors as much as you can. While it’s understandable that you don’t want to be cooped up in the gym right now, this doesn’t mean you have to do away with all physical activity.

Go on active outdoor pursuits. Go hiking on the weekend, take a long bike ride during the evening after dinner, or go to the beach and actually get into the water and swim rather than just tanning on the shoreline the whole time.

So there you have just a few quick tips to prevent weight gain this summer. You definitely can keep your weight in tact if you’re smart in how you go about your approach.

Feel like you’re doing everything right with your diet and workout plan yet still not seeing the progress that you desire?

Tired of going around in circles doing everything that you’ve read to be ‘healthy’ when nothing seems to be working?

If this describes the situation you’re in, it’s time to take a really good look at exactly what you’re doing and see if these ‘healthy habits’ may actually just be a hindrance.

One big problem for many people is that they simply don’t know what’s healthy any more as they’ve read so much conflicting information.

Let’s walk you through a few of the top healthy habits that really aren’t and may just be standing in the way of you and great results.

Not Eating Before Bed

The first habit that you may want to rethink is not eating before bed. If you are forcing yourself to stop eating after 6pm, you may be creating more anxiety for yourself than anything.

Most people do not like to go to bed hungry and when you eliminate the option of eating, you are going to cause some stress.

This could cause you to overeat at your dinner meal to ensure that you can ‘last’ until morning, whereas if you did allow yourself a healthy snack, like an apple or ¼ cup- 1/2 cup greek yogurt, you wouldn’t feel the need to do so.

As long as you choose wisely before bed, eating won’t cause fat gain.

Cutting All Carbs Entirely

The second healthy habit to rethink is shunning carbs entirely. While you should definitely be cutting out processed carbs, don’t cut out the good stuff.

Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can all be a part of a healthy diet plan and help to keep your metabolism higher.

Start adding these in moderate quantities and you’ll see better results because of it.

Never Cheating

Another big mistake some dieters make is never allowing themselves to cheat – EVER!

While you definitely don’t want to be cheating too often as that will without a doubt derail your progress, don’t force yourself to be ‘on’ 100% of the time.

Doing so will just lead you to black and white thinking where if you do fall off the plan, you really fall off and go on an all-out binge.

That will really do some serious damage to your diet plan then, so that’s something that must be avoided.

Using ‘Diet’ Foods

Finally, the last thing that you need to be careful of is relying too much on diet types of foods.

While sugar free and fat free foods can often contain fewer calories so you may think they are more appropriate for fat loss diets. Keep in mind that very often these contain no nutrients or have the nutrients taken out of them.

Healthy fats are good for the body and necessary for success. Likewise, a high intake of artificial sugars is not going to be healthy at all, and this is often what these ‘sugar free’ foods contain.

So think twice before adding those to your diet.

Be smart and go for naturally healthy foods instead. That’s a far better way to see weight loss success.

So there you have the main healthy habits that you should think twice of before they really do derail your progress.

If you’re someone who’s getting started in a health and fitness program aimed at decreasing your body weight, one thing that you might be thinking about is using one of the many different fat burners on the market.

Whether your particular fat burner of choice is ephedrine and caffeine or you prefer a stacked product that contains caffeine, green tea extract, along with a wide combination of other ingredients, there are some important things that you need to consider before using them.

They really aren’t all that they’re cracked up to be and in fact, they could cause more harm than good.

Let’s take a quick peak at what you should know about fat burners so you can get the low-down before using these products.

Fat Burners Stress The CNS (Central Nervous System)

The very first thing that you must always remember about fat burners before you go off adding them into your plan is the fact that they’re really going to stress the CNS to quite a large extent.

All the stimulatory ingredients in these may provide an energy boost, but at what cost?

If you take them over a period of time, eventually you’re going to find that your body is growing very tired and lethargic and this is very often due to the amount of stress they’re placing on your system.

Fat Burners Can Impact Sleep

The second big issue that you must keep in mind with regards to at burners is the fact that they’ll impact your sleep as well.

Getting enough sleep while dieting is critical to success as it’s going to ensure that you’re giving your body a chance to recover and that you’re maintaining a high metabolic rate.

But, again, with those stimulatory ingredients in the fat burners, even if you do take it in the early afternoon hours, you still may find that it influences the quality of sleep that you get.

You should never sacrifice sleep if you want to make proper progress.

Fat Burners Can Be Dangerous

Finally, the last important thing that you should keep in mind with regards to fat burners is the fact that they can be quite dangerous as well.

While you may think that they’ve been ‘proven’ safe, remember that each and every individual will have a different reaction to them.

Some people react very poorly and will find that the fat burner causes anxiety, an increased heart rate, and may even cause their temper to increase.

There are many negative sides of fat burners that most people never consider because they’re simply too focused on finding the latest ‘quick-fix’ to help them see weight loss success.

Rather than focusing so much on these quick fix strategies, why not stop and put more time and effort into focusing what will bring you better results and what’s actually healthy – a proper diet plan and a good workout.

That’s the real ticket to success. If you get those in order, you won’t have to rely on some product to do the job for you that just leaves you feeling unhealthy.

As you go about your workout program, chances are one of the biggest priorities that you’ve set is making sure that you obtain your ideal body weight and look your best.

More and more people are starting to learn just how effective different forms of exercise can be for reshaping their body and are structuring their workout programs to bring about the best of results.

But in this quest for the ‘perfect body’ you must not forget about overall health, including bone health. Maintaining strong bones is going to be vital for not only overall health sake, but also so that you can continue your active lifestyle for years to come.

Let’s have a look at three steps that you can do right now to help promote better joint health.

Cross Train

If you’re always going to the gym and doing the same form of high intensity cardio activity, especially if it happens to be jogging or running, this is going to create quite a high amount of wear and tear on the joints and ligaments.

To help reduce the load, try cross training once in a while. Go for a swim or use the elliptical trainer.

This will help to take some of the stress off the joints so you’ll reduce the amount of pounding they undergo.

Supplement With MSM

The second thing that you can do to help promote joint health is to supplement with MSM. MSM is a key supplement that will help support healthy cartilage and joints, so you’ll see a lower risk of pain development.

MSM is a good supplement for those who are already in pain as well as most notice that upon taking it the pain resides quite quickly.

While it’s not going to work magic, it definitely can help get you to your end goals.

Perform Weight Bearing Activities

Finally, make sure that you are performing some weight bearing activities. Strength training is quite possibly the best form of exercise that you could do to foster healthy joints, so make sure that you’re getting it in.

While too much weight bearing activity will overload and tax the joints, not enough will cause problems as well. Finding the perfect amount is key to success.

So there you have the top things to consider about what you can do to promote stronger bones and joints so that you can keep up with your workout program. Make sure you aren’t overlooking any of these steps.

If you’ve been religiously hitting the gym and putting in a full effort yet are still not seeing the results that you had hoped you would be, it’s important that you take a look at what might be going on that’s preventing you from making the type of progress that you’re looking for.

The sad fact is that many people do make a few key mistakes in their workout approach that really end up costing them big as far as long term results go and unless they’re able to pinpoint these mistakes and start making changes, they’re just going to waste more and more time in the gym.

Let’s walk you through three of the top reasons why you might not be progressing in the gym right now so you can see for yourself exactly what you must be doing to get back on track.

You Haven’t Changed Your Workout In Months

The first reason why you may be failing to make progress in the gym is simply because you aren’t challenging the body any further.

Remember, if you want to continue to see progress, you must continue to do something to tax the muscles. If you’re just doing the same workout over and over again, the muscles have already gotten used to that workout and aren’t really going to see a need to continually keep changing.

Do something different next time you’re in the gym. Try a new exercise, work in a different rep range, or switch the order of the exercises that you’re performing.

That can evoke the change that’s needed to get you seeing faster progress again.

You Don’t Have Focus

The second reason why you might not be seeing success in the gym is if you’re simply not focused. Ask yourself, do you go into the gym and just go through the actions? Sure, you might be focused enough to make sure that you’re maintaining proper form, but are you so focused that you’re thinking about each and every muscle contraction as it takes place?

If you aren’t, that’s your mistake.

Next time you’re in the gym, really focus on what the specific muscle you’re trying to work is doing. Picture it squeezing and relaxing as you perform each rep.

It’s this type of focus that will really increase the intensity of the workout and bring you far superior results.

You Aren’t Recovering

Finally, the last reason you might not be making the progress you’re looking for in the gym is if you aren’t recovering.

Remember, the muscles grow stronger and larger when they’re at rest. When you’re in the gym, you’re actually making them weaker because you’re breaking them down.

If you aren’t giving your body that down time to recover, it’s never going to grow stronger and thus you won’t see the progress that you’re after.

Start making sure that you are providing ample time for recovery purposes and you’ll be far better off.

So there you have three simple reasons that could be standing in your way of progress. Are any of these influencing you?

One of the biggest reasons why people tend to fall off their fitness program is simply because they just lose interest in the usual old workout routine that they’re doing.

At first they were excited and were seeing rapid results so that was enough to keep them going. But now that time has passed onwards, those sessions seem to drag on and on.

If you aren’t continually changing up your workout routine, not only is it highly likely that it’s going to grow stale over time, but you won’t see the progress that you’re looking for either. The body needs constant change and adaptation to continually see improvements, so switching something around is a must.

Let’s give you a few quick ideas for simple ways to change your workout and renew your interest in exercise again.

Join A Boot Camp

The first very simple technique to give your workout a real wake-up call is to consider joining a boot camp. More and more boot camp classes are coming out regularly now that offers something for everyone.

The great thing about boot camps is since they are done in a group atmosphere you’ll reap social benefits from joining one as well.

For some people, this is one thing that always keeps them coming back for more.

Consider Triathlon Training

The second thing that you can consider doing to help boost your workout interest and keep yourself progressing along is to consider triathlon training.

If there’s a local mini triathlon that takes place in your area, consider signing up and training for it. This will require you to train around three different forms of exercises, so will be less likely to produce that boredom you’re trying so hard to get away from.

As an added bonus, your endurance capacity will go way up through this training, so you’ll see great physical rewards as well.

Use A New Piece Of Equipment

Finally, the third thing that you may want to consider adding to your workout routine to spice it up so that you can get committed to regular workouts once again is a new piece of equipment.

There are many different exercise equipment options out there including resistance bands, suspension trainers, exercise balls, and so on so there’s no shortage of options for how to get a good workout in.

By using a new piece of equipment you’ll challenge your body in a new and innovative way as well, so that can really help to take your fitness up a notch.

So there you have three totally different ways that you can liven up your workout and get committed to success.

It’s perfectly normal to see a decline in your motivational levels as time passes on so rather then dwelling on it and thinking something is wrong with your desire to achieve success, do something about it. Change your workout around and try something new. You’ll be amazed at how quickly this recaptures that fitness excitement in you once again.
